InTechnicolour
InTechnicolour combine haunting, powerful vocals with suspenseful, progressive clean sections and anthemic, unforgettable choruses, landing somewhere between the slack desert-groove of Kyuss and Karma to Burn.
We caught up with Dave, Liam and Vlad about all things music.
WHAT’S NEW WITH YOU GUYS?
Dave: Credit Card (check pending) fingers crossed.
Vlad: Lower back pains
Liam: That and finally having our debut album ready for release. It's out next month, February 21st, on our new label Big Scary Monsters. They've been really supportive and we're psyched to finally get it out.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY LISTENING TO?
Vlad: My neighbours fighting and the new Stonefield album.
Dave: I've been revisiting Strangers in the Alps by Phoebe Bridgers, wonderful and depressing.
WHAT’S THE MOST MEMORABLE SHOW YOU’VE PLAYED?
Dave: We played 2000 Trees last year - it was one of the first major festivals we've played as a band. So many fantastic bands and cheap beer, you can't really go wrong...and it didn't!
WHAT’S THE STRANGEST SHOW YOU’VE PLAYED?
Vlad: I played a millionaire's Bar Mitzvah in a functions band and the kid threw up during his reading. With InTech, the strangest show is one where no gear breaks and everyone's strings last through the whole set.
Liam: Genuinely a miracle if I make it through a set without breaking a string...
Dave: One of the first shows I've ever played, 14 years old, we played a 'New Monkey' night in Darlington (Darlo) my home town. For some reason my band was booked to warm up the crowd before the 'New Monkey' night started - if you don't know what that is its basically happy hardcore with MCing over the top and its sold on cassette tapes in chip shops. Anyway, we rocked up and played a set of originals mixed with Metallica covers, we got through about 5/6 songs before we couldn't see for pennies been thrown at our face and had to be escorted out the venue by 4 bouncers. On the plus side, I collected about £1 in pennies. Swings and roundabouts...
WHERE’S GOOD FOR PRE/POST-GIG GRUB?
Liam: If I'm anywhere near the South Lanes in Brighton then Happy Maki is my go to. Who can say no to a sushi burrito?
Dave: I always tell myself to eat healthy, keep it light and eat at least 2 hours before a show - Which is great until we show up super late to soundcheck, theres no shops around and i find myself ordering a beer and burger 30 mins before we're on stage.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE LOCAL SUSSEX MUSIC SCENE?
Liam: It can be strange at times, living so close to London, but there are loads of great bands coming out of Sussex. I moved to Brighton because of the creative scene and I still love it.
Dave: I live in Somerset...
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE/MOST CHERISHED BIT OF GEAR?
Dave: I still have my first guitar from my childhood, It's a classical 'style' guitar from Woolworths. Considering it probably cost £20 it plays really nice and I still use to this day to write tunes for InTechnicolour on.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ALBUM?
Vlad: Changes every week. At the moment it's Girl Band´s 'The Talkies'.
Dave: Currently it's gotta be Phoebe Bridgers - Strangers in the Alps
IF YOU COULD INVITE THREE MUSICIANS, ALIVE OR DEAD, TO A DINNER PARTY WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHAT WOULD YOU TALK ABOUT?
Liam: Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin. Those dudes knew how to party
